Garden of Words

is an anime about 15 year old Takao Akizuki, an aspiring shoemaker who often skips class to sketch out designs and creations. While Takao is practicing one day, he meets 27 year old Yukino in the Shinjuku Gyoen gardens. The two of them both share feelings of isolation in their everyday lives, and quickly become friends. Takao loves the gardens because they bring him peace and serenity during the quiet rainy days. I've visited the gardens myself and can verify these qualities. I don't think I've ever enjoyed a garden or the rain so much in my whole life. In this anime, Shinkai masterfully portrays both the gardens' vastness and small glimmers of beauty as the two characters wander the grounds. Over time, they happen to meet again and again in the gardens on rainy days. However, this phenomenon must soon come to an end as the rainy season starts to wane. Their first meeting place is this secluded gazebo, which is surrounded by greenery:
